Longest line of picnic tables

On October 20, 2019, a new Guinness World Record was set in Sri Lanka. The longest line of picnic tables ever measured a massive 1,002.44 meters, or 3,288 feet 84 inches (1.002 kilometer). This record was achieved by Your Breakfast Partner, Marmite, a brand owned by Unilever. The event took place in Malabe, Colombo, Sri Lanka, along a jogging strip beside a small inner road in the city.

The event was held to showcase Marmite’s versatility as a breakfast dish. It was a unique way to promote the brand and draw attention to its wide range of uses. The picnic tables were arranged in a long line, stretching over a great distance, creating an impressive sight. People from different parts of the city came to witness this extraordinary achievement. Those tables were made by wood which is common practice.

If you would like to imagine its length, picture a straight line across Galle Face Green, starting from the road in front of the Galle Face Hotel to where Galle Road meets Baladaksha Mawatha Road.

What is a Picnic Table?

A picnic table is a type of table that is typically used outdoors. It is designed for sitting and eating together in an open space, like a park or garden. Picnic tables are usually made from wood, metal, or plastic. They often have benches attached to the table, so people can sit comfortably. These tables are great for outdoor activities like family gatherings, picnics, and social events.

Using picnic tables is popular because they are easy to set up and move around. They allow people to enjoy meals together in nature. Many parks, beaches, and recreational areas use picnic tables to provide a comfortable place for visitors.

Declaimer: This Guinness World Record may break time to time, but it records as per the record that relates to Sri Lanka’s Guinness World Records.
