Calculation Method

The calculation of your monthly water bill involves more than just the amount of water consumed. One unit is equivalent to one cubic meter (1,000 Liters) of water. Consumers are charged based on the units used, with additional charges for monthly service, taxes, and other applicable fees.

Customers who do not utilize water during a particular month are still liable for the minimum monthly service charge and applicable taxes. However, those who settle their bills within 14 days of issuance are eligible for a rebate of 1.5% on the total bill amount.

It’s important to settle your water bill within 14 days from the date of receipt to avoid additional charges. If payment is not made within 30 days from the billing date, an extra charge of 2.5% per month is levied on the outstanding balance.

Note: National Water Supply Drainage Board is a government authority body that provides water in Sri Lanka. It functions under the Ministry of Water Supply & Drainage. The board has several facilities to settle your water bill. The bill might differ from this calculator since the bill may add other charges such as late bill payment fine, etc. However, this calculator is perfect to calculate your monthly cost against monthly consumed water/unit.
