The discovery of this extraordinary gem began in 2023 near Rathnapura, a town in southern Sri Lanka known as the City of Gems. The stone was purchased and made a careful examination.

Once the owners recognized they possessed something extraordinary, they took the stone for independent certification. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) verified its authenticity and natural formation. The Lanka Gemological Laboratory (LGL) independently confirmed its Sri Lankan (Ceylon) origin. These certifications prove the stone is 100% natural and has never been heated or treated artificially. In the gemstone world, this matters greatly because it ensures the stone’s purity and value.

The Asterism

One of the most remarkable features of the Star of Pure Land is its optical phenomenon known as asterism. When light strikes the stone, a six-ray star pattern appears on its surface. This star-like effect is what makes star sapphires so captivating and valuable. This six-ray asterism is sharply defined and well-developed.
