The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has confirmed a 15% increase in electricity tariffs for household (domestic) consumers. This new price will take effect on June 12, 2025.
Industries and Tourism Sectors Affected:Industries will face a 20.5% increase in electricity prices.Business sector will see a 20.2% increase in their electricity costs.
This tariff increase is part of Sri Lanka’s efforts to meet the requirements for the next payout in its $2.9 billion program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The hike comes after earlier proposals for a higher increase of 18.3% by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) for the period from June to December.
